Today celebrates the 20th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin wall that separated millions of people from their family, loved ones and friends. Though the situation did not affect me, I still believe it’s important to celebrate the collapse of the wall because it was such a key moment in unity all over the world. To commemorate the fall in Berlin, thousands of oversized “dominoes” were painted by local school children and artists all over the world with designs and messages that were then lined up along the path where the wall once stood. The dominoes are to mirror the “domino effect” that happened after the fall of the wall, spreading unity all throughout the land. The dominoes will be knocked down later, causing a literal domino effect. I think that’s pretty cool.
